Weekly Writing Assignment
Weekly writing Assignment
This week you have four options. Choose one only. If you have an interest in writing about the other issues as well, why not take that over to the regular discussion forum? As always, it's a good idea to refresh yourself on the submission process and requirements.
----------> How to Post the Weekly Writing Assignment
Option #1
RAPE AND INCEST
Wenz portrays it as an inconsistency that Americans so often oppose abortion but are willing to make exception for conceptions resulting from rape or incest. Is it inconsistent? (Should rape and incest be linked like that?)
Option #2
Animals and Abortion
Why is it important to McGinn that his first substantive chapter be devoted to discussing the ethics of the treatment of animals? In particular, how does his account there relate to his discussion of abortion, which immediately follows it?
Option #3
Whose Good?
Sam Harris pushes David Benatar hard on this question: When assessing the good of procreation, whose good is being assessed? An actual child? Parents? Some particular nonexistent child? Some indefinite non-existent child? Where does Benatar seem to be on this issue? Why does it matter (if it does)?
